The client approached Apollo to establish a 300-bed referral tertiary care hospital in Accra. Apollo is working with the client for "beyond turnkey" management of the project, where Apollo shall be involved with all steps up to the commissioning of the hospital and thereafter contribute to Apollo's managerial and clinical excellence in operating the hospital to bring it to par with the best in the world.

Non-communicable diseases are a major concern in Kenya, with a staggering 50% of all hospital admissions and 27% of all deaths being attributed to these chronic diseases. These include cardiovascular complications, malignancies, diabetes, and COPD, all of which share similar risk factors. However, the burden of NCDs does not stop there, as other conditions such as bodily harm, hemoglobinopathies, epilepsy, psychiatric disorders, and oral, vision, and dental disorders also contribute significantly to the overall burden. This places a heavy toll on the healthcare system and the population, emphasising the urgent need to prevent and manage NCDs in the country.

According to the 2016 World Health Organization's NCD country profiles, nearly 29% of all deaths in Zambia have been attributed to NCDs.

Accessing quality and affordable healthcare is a major challenge for the people of Zambia. Recognising the need for better healthcare and the opportunity to improve around 20 million lives in Zambia, a multi-speciality hospital was envisioned by our client.

The client approached Apollo for assistance in their peculiar situation, where they had a feasibility study done and a business plan developed for a 100-bed hospital in Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia, by another provider. However, they were unsuccessful in obtaining funding based on the report.

Apollo worked with the client in identifying the gaps in the report by conducting a thorough review of the report and is now looking at an improvement study for the same report to convert the report and business plan into a bankable document.
